Resume:
My name is Mattie Whitten from Centennial, Colorado, and I am 24 years old. My parents, Dina and Dale Whitten, along with my church, Saint Catherine’s Greek Orthodox Church, are the biggest supporters of my racing.
By the age of 11, I had played soccer for seven years, the last three years competitively. I was looking for a new challenge when someone suggested I try racing. With the support of my biggest fan, my mother, I got behind the wheel of a Quarter Midget and fell in love for the first time. I raced Quarter Midgets for five years, driving three different classes of cars: Senior Novice, Senior Honda, and Honda 160. Among my accomplishments in the Quarter Midgets are 19 feature wins in Billings, Montana and Colorado Springs, Pueblo and Dacono, Colorado. In 2003, I was the runner up in points as well as qualifying for third place in the Winter Nationals in Las Vegas, Nevada.
After racing for five years in Quarter Midget's , I moved up to the bigger and faster cars, Scaled Late Models. In my first year of 2004 I won the Championship and Rookie of the Year in the Scaled Late Model Pro-Division. During my four years on this circuit, I had many accomplishments and traveled extensively with my racing team . I have raced in Roseberg , Oregon Orlando, Florida, Gering, Nebraska and throughout Colorado and Wyoming a total of more than 12 different tracks and road courses During the 2005-2006 season, I was the runner-up in my division. In this division, I ranked first locally and second in the Western Region. This year I was selected from 650 drivers throughout the United States to test-drive a Ford Focus Midget for Ron Sutton’s Winner Circle Driver Development Program.
I am very dedicated to my racing and to advancing my career as a female racer. In the several years in which I have been racing, I have gained a tremendous amount of knowledge from the variety of crews and coaches who have helped and developed me along the way. I am dedicated, determined and willing to do whatever it takes to succeed as a female professional race car driver .During 2008 and 2009 I ran a Bierl ROTAX DD2 shifter Kart at The TRACK at Centennial , Grand Junction Motor Speedway , IMI Racing Complex, and the Pepsi Center with two feature wins and 4 podium finshes. I also participated in the First Annual 24HRS Race at The Track at Centennial , I felt this Kart racing only enhanced my racing experience and would and additional value to a Professional Race Team/Car Owner.
